You’ve Got a Friend in Me
Hello, children of the world!
It’s a new month, and with it comes the new topic, “Love.” To me, this particular one is extraordinary because it isn’t only about love for or from one person; it is about the love you give to and receive from your community, found family, friends, etc.
In February, it’s common to speak about your love for that particular person, but in Dream, on Youth, we also want to acknowledge the love for other groups and individuals that we have in our lives. The reason to do this is that we feel that making you aware of all the people around you who love you is very important. Sometimes we let ourselves be a little bit down for not having a partner or lover who will be with us on a particular day or throughout the whole year, but this isn’t quite right for us to feel sad or frustrated because of it.
Love comes from everywhere and anyone. I have experienced, in particular, the love of my found family. This isn’t like the biological one; found families are made from the unique humans who have made us into a better person, people who have shared so much with us for no reason, and all of that has made us feel warm and harmonious with ourselves.
These found families are unique because we get to choose them. Sometimes we even get the mother or father figure from that hyper special friend who always advises us and cares for us in such a deep level that we sense him/her/them to be that parenting or sibling figure that we so much need at a specific situation, or through a rough patch, we might be going through.
Ah! When writing this, the love I feel is so immense that all the mind portraits I have from my own found family are passing before my eyes. I feel their warmth, love, and balance they have brought into my life and my soul. This particular feeling that I’m getting is the fondness that a found family has to offer all of you!
Perhaps you already have one but didn’t realize it until now. Or maybe you knew all about this so far, and now you remember all of them like me :) I encourage you to give them a call or send an appreciation message; I assure you they’ll thank you and feel all the love you have for each of them.
This month where love is all around at its highest frequency, I remind you that in Dream on Youth, we are a community that loves you and supports you all the way. You’ve got a friend in me and all of us!
