Gift Ideas: For the Dancer, Reader and Writer in Your Life.
Gift shopping, it's one of my favorite parts of the holidays. It's always a rewarding feeling to purchase the perfect gift for a friend or family member. Sometimes I love it more than getting gifts myself and I tend to overdo it. I always want to get the gift just right for the person I'm shopping for. It's not always the easiest task in the world but gives me such a warm feeling knowing I made the right choice. With that in mind, I thought I'd offer some insight on gift ideas for dancers, writers, and readers that some of you may have in your life. It may be difficult, especially if you're not familiar or interested in these so I figured I'd suggest some ideas to get you started!
The Dancer
Now, this may seem odd, but as a dancer I know I would love to get this: dance clothes. It was always fun to wear new dance attire to class. Plus nowadays there are so many options from different colored leotards to pant leg warmers, and a variety of shorts and skirts. The prime place to shop for said attire and accessories I would have to say is discountdance.com. They offer decent prices and have so many varieties. Other than dancewear you can never go wrong with a dance ornament, it's always nice to get a new one of those, knee-high socks, anything comfy really( it's how most of us dancers dress at rehearsal), even a new dance bag. If you're willing to do some research find a highly recommended exercise video particularly aimed at dancers as another gift option. All of this and more can be found on the discount dance website, in your local dance supply store, and even amazon.com. If you think they'll enjoy it you could even buy tickets to your local theater where the performance of The Nutcracker will be showing. It's not the NYC Ballet but for a better price, you're seeing amateurs put on just as magical of a performance.
The Reader
I'm going to start with the obvious: a Barnes and Noble gift card! It's simple and will surely excite its recipient. This way you won't have to worry about whether or not they'll like the book you picked out. Bookmarks are also a great addition to this present because they're cheap and as a reader myself I never seem to have any! If there's a particularly popular series they're a fan of you can probably find merchandise on amazon decently priced like posters, t-shirts, mugs, etc. An interesting gift would be a book light! They're convenient for night trips and easy to pack. And last but not least a Starbucks gift card, because who doesn't love to sit with a nice cup of coffee while reading a captivating novel?
The Writer
A set of fancy looking pens and a new journal may motivate your writer to hone their craft more often. A Barnes and Noble gift card can also be used for the writer because chances are if they love to write it's more than likely that they love to read as well. Anything that has inspiring quotes by writers of today and past, sometimes they have books filled with them, will surely put a smile on any writer’s face. Books on how to be a better writer or even books on how to spark creativity are great gifts for the budding writer as well.
Don't let anyone ever dull your sparkle!
