Laura Zocca
Ever since I joined Tumblr way back in 2010, I've been following the now 18-year-old Laura Zocca. This soon to be a superstar not only posts her incredible songs but also makes an effort to connect with her fans from all over the world. The London native is chasing her dreams and turning them into reality.
Sarah Sholar: How did you become interested in music?
Laura Zocca: I've always had a passion for it - I started playing instruments (Violin and piano) at age 7, which I think intensified my love for music. I taught myself guitar at 13, then started songwriting pretty soon after!
SS: What has been your biggest musical accomplishment so far?
LZ: I'd say reaching 50,000 subscribers was a big milestone for me. I never imagined my music would reach many people around the world.
SS: How does it feel to know that all over the world people are listening to your music?
LZ: INSANE! Haha, it's so crazy, I am so thankful for the internet because it's introduced me to so many amazing people and amazing opportunities.
SS: What's been the most humbling experience in your life, and what are you most thankful for?
LZ: The most humbling thing I'd say would be, just being reminded daily that my music has been able to, help somebody get through a breakup or, puts a smile on their face when they've had a really bad day. Just little things I see in messages that I get, they make me so happy and driven to keep going. I am most thankful for everybody who has ever spent time listening to me sing. Be it the people who have been here since 2009 or the people that came across me last week.
SS: What is something great that you've witnessed happen because of music?
LZ: It's not really one specific time that it's happened, but I think, seeing that a song or an artist/band has affected someone so much, it's saved their life - that's what's so amazing to me and why I adore music so music. It is one of the most powerful things on earth.
SS: What are your goals for the future?
LZ: I hope to someday be able to live off only my music. Travel, write, record, inspire people, perform, make people smile, all through, and because of my music. Just to be able to do that every day, that's when I'll reach my life goal.
SS: Who are your biggest musical inspirations? Who are your biggest "life" inspirations?
LZ: Musical inspirations I'd say, Taylor Swift, John Mayer, and Ed Sheeran. I'd say my style has influences from all of theirs. But I do love some oldies too. The Beatles is one of my favorites! Life inspirations I'd say my mum haha she's the greatest, wisest, strongest woman I know.
SS: What's your favorite song to sing/play?
LZ: Ah that's an impossible question, there's so many! I'd just say any song that I can relate to because of a personal experience of mine, those are the ones I love most.
SS: Is there something specific you look forward to every day?
LZ: Honestly, talking to all my followers and friends. They make me smile all day and I'm so thankful for that!
