Zoso Lights: Beauty and Fashion Blogger/Vlogger

Meet Suzanna Stein. She’s spent most of her life longing to create: from homemade to jewelry to fashion design sketches. Anything she could do to hone the creative thinking skills she excelled in. Growing up, she played dress-up and experimented with her mother’s make-up, as many little girls do. But Suzanna didn’t stop there. When she was eight, she decided she wanted to be a fashion designer and spent most of her time sketching outfits and imagining them come to life. As she matured, her dream was still in the back of her mind, and after going through an interesting fashion phase herself, she found her way back. The world of beauty blogging and Youtubing captivated her, and she spent as much time as possible watching beauty and fashion videos. Suzanna was intrigued by the idea of making videos herself, and in three months and two weeks, she finally gained the courage. Still devoting her time to reading blogs, she toyed with the idea of blogging and eventually created that as well. Now she shares her creativity with the world through her blog (Zoso Lights Blog) and Youtube channel (Zoso Lights YouTube).

How would you describe yourself to someone who’s never met you?

S: I would describe myself as a girl in her twenties with too many ideas and not enough time. I talk too much, drink too much coffee, and am obsessed with my kitties. I spend my time blogging, crafting, and hanging out with my family.

Are you in school? Where do you go and what are you studying?

S: I am currently attending California State University, Monterey Bay. I am majoring in Business with a concentration in Entrepreneurship. Each summer, I attend the Academy of Art University, San Francisco, where I take classes towards Fashion Marketing certification. In about a year, I will have completed both programs!

Do you have any fashion icons? How have they influenced your own style?

S: There are so many fashion blogs that I follow that are constantly inspiring me. Two of my favorites are Poor Little It Girl and Atlantic-Pacific. Both of those ladies have incredible style! Taylor Sterling of Glitter Guide is also someone that I look to for style inspiration. I really adore the classy, clean-cut look and layers (I love layers)! As far as style icons, I would say Lauren Conrad is definitely one of them!

What would you say motivates you to do what you do? What are you most excited or passionate about?

S: I am most excited and passionate about creating. My blog is a way for me to express myself and my creativity. Over the course of this year, it has grown into something way bigger than I ever thought it could be, and I cannot wait to see what 2014 brings! That is what keeps me motivated, knowing what I can become. I see so much in not only my future but the future of Zoso Lights, which keeps me going and pushing. I refuse to stop until I reach my goals!

Do you have any life aspirations/goals?

S: I do! I have too many to list, but I will give you a few. I would like to one day own my own successful business. I want to travel the world, buy my parents their dream house, publish a book (or two), and work closely with a charity.

How did you get involved in DOY?

S: I had been following DOY on Twitter for quite a while when I started ZL. I had always admired Cyndey for doing such great things. Eventually, I contacted Cydney, told her how much I loved DOY and asked if she would consider having a blogger/vlogger in the family. She welcomed me with open arms and has been encouraging me ever since!

What do DOY and its mission mean to you personally?

S: There are so many people out there, like myself, that have dreams bigger than they can comprehend. DOY reminds us that we are all-powerful, and we all have the ability to make those dreams come true. The wonderful ladies of DOY are constantly encouraging and inspiring. The most important thing that DOY does is remind everyone that they are worthy and beautifully and wonderfully made. This is something significant to me and something I strongly believe in.

Is there anyone in particular who inspires or influences you?

S: Yes, two people inspire and influence me the most. First, my mom. She is my best friend and inspires/influences me for many reasons. She has always pushed me to be the best I can be and to follow my dreams. She always assured me that anything I wanted to accomplish, I could get with hard work. Not only is she the most hard-working woman I have ever known, but she is also my biggest fan. She has supported me through all of my endeavors and is the reason I am who I am. Also, she is the classiest and stylish person I know. I definitely have her to thank for my love of fashion and a good deal! I can only hope to one day become as great a person and mother she is. To sum up, what my mom has taught me, I will quote Oscar Wilde: “You can never be overdressed or overeducated.”

The second person that has influenced me greatly is my oldest sister. She is the smartest, responsible, and understanding person I know. Her accomplishments make me want to strive to be the best I can be and show me that anything is possible if you want it bad enough. She is selfless and has given me more advice than anyone else. She is always there for me and constantly supports me. Without her, I would be lost.

If you could change anything from your past, what would it be and why?

S: I try to remember that everything happens for a reason, and everyone makes mistakes. By reminding myself of these things, I can learn from my mistakes and grow from the experience. With that being said, I can’t think of anything in particular that I would change. Everything that has happened in my life has made me into the person I am today. Don’t get me wrong, there are definitely times I am not proud of and do not wish to relive, but I wouldn’t be where I am without them.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

S: In five years, I would like to be finished/finishing up my Master’s Program and starting my career. Also, I would like Zoso Lights to be successful and continuously growing. I see myself living somewhere new and traveling.

Never forget the essence of your spark!
