Saving Grace
Music is perhaps one of the strongest forces in the world. It has the ability to unite people of different backgrounds, ages, states, and even countries. It's the universal language, something everyone can understand. It's always left me speechless when I see videos of English-speaking musicians performing their music in other countries. Even though the primary language in that country may be Chinese, Italian, Japanese, or any of the other hundreds of languages in the world, the audience sings along. They may not have a complete understanding of the words they're saying, but it doesn't matter. If that isn't amazing, I don't know what is.
Over the past 16 years of my life, music has continually been my saving grace. It's given me opportunities that I never imagined would happen in my wildest dreams. I've met my two best friends. It gave me this job as an intern. It saved me when I was at my lowest low. Music is the one thing that always has been, and always will be, there. You can be isolated at school or harassed by strangers, but at the end of the day, you can always plug in your headphones. Music will never discriminate, it will never leave you stranded, and it will never hurt you or break you.
"People haven't always been there for me, but music has." - Taylor Swift
I want to hear your stories. Tell me how music has changed your life. What has it done for you? Has it saved you from your darkest hours? Has it united you with people you never would have met otherwise? Everyone has their own story. It doesn't matter who you are or where you come from - you have a story to tell. Your experiences deserve to be heard.
If you want to share your story, post it in the comments or email me here. I can't wait to get to know you all.
"Don't be afraid to stand out. That's how the lost get found." - Britt Nicole
