The Things That Move Us
If you're like me, you've struggled at some point within this crazy adventure called life. If you're like me, you've wanted something to save you. If that's the issue, hopefully you've found something to anchor yourself to. Hopefully you've found something to keep you afloat. To keep you alive. To keep you going.
Maybe it's a song or a lyric. Maybe it's a book or a quote. Maybe it's your faith. Maybe it's your hope about the future. Maybe it's a movie. Maybe it's a person or a character. Maybe it's something so misunderstood to outsiders, but to you it makes perfect sense. People are always willing to criticize others. Period. But if they're one to judge you for what keeps you on this earth, then. Forget them.
For me, I have quite a few things that keep me going. To keep me fighting. - First and foremost, my trust in God and His son Jesus. It took a while to radically believe in such a love, but day in and day out, He shows me that He loves me. Despite my sin and failures and unworthy self, He still loves me, sees me as His beautiful creation, and will always be there for me. Isn't that so wonderful? That He wants to do that for all of us? I can't wrap my head around that sometimes. - Secondly, the one man in my life that I know I can always look up to. Jamie Tworkowski. The founder of To Write Love On Her Arms. The one organization that I know I can confide in. Jamie has helped me in so many different ways, I can't even explain them all. From battling depression for many years, Jamie and TWLOHA found me, and has been motivation in my life ever since. - Thirdly, the TV show Supernatural. Go ahead and judge me, or roll your eyes, but. No one truly understands why this show means so much to me. It's helped save me. Supernatural has been with me for nine years. It's been a distraction from all of the negativity that comes from this world. SPN has provided me with two brothers, an old drunk, and a fallen angel to confide in. SPN has been basically a part of me, to the point where I treat and view the characters as family. Without Sam and Dean Winchester, I honestly don't know who I would be. They've helped me be a stronger person. They've taught me how important family is. They've taught me that you can change who you are, despite what the world thinks of you. They've taught me to kick ass. They've taught me to keep fighting. - Fourthly, I'd have to put the lovely boys of One Direction here. I won't make this long or sappy. But basically they put the biggest smile on my face. Sure they're in a boy band. But they're still human. They're still a bunch of lads just living life. They have such good hearts, and I admire them for that. They're always willing to go the extra mile, and I love them for that.
So what moves you? What makes this fight worth while? What do you love? Why do you love it? What makes things a little bit easier for you? Really think about it. Think about something that has impacted your life, in some way. Think about what makes your heart soar. Think about lyrics that give you goosebumps. Think about the things that make your heart swell with happiness. Sometimes, these things are rare to come by. If you've found something, hold it near and dear to your heart. Treasure it. Keep it safe. Admire it. Be thankful for it. Be better because of it. If you haven't found it, keep searching. Make it a goal to find something worth living for. Don't give up. Keep going. Whenever you find it, you'll know. And when you do, be proud of it. Never be ashamed about the things that make you happy. Never regret a smile or a laugh. Stick to yourself. The rest will fall into place.
Keep Fighting,
Taylor
