A Time To Reflect

It is that time of year again... Thanksgiving. Nowadays, Thanksgiving is yet another holiday in which we prepare a massive feast and indulge ourselves. Think about it, though. Thanksgiving is yet another holiday in which we are surrounded by our family, by people we love and who love us back. Many of us take it for granted, but Thanksgiving is truly a time where we give thanks, whether we realize it or not.
I am thankful for my family. We may argue like cats and dogs, but at the end of the day, we love and support each other. My family has been through more dilemmas and struggles and scares than the normal family, and that is what has made us strong individuals who are even stronger together. My parents have never questioned my interests and passions. I spend my free time writing and am absolutely determined to make that my career. We all know it can be extremely difficult to get a career in writing, but my parents believe in me and my ambitions. That is all that really matters. They are there for me every step of the way. My entire family is. I am thankful for being surrounded by constant love... Whether I know it or not.
I am thankful for my friends. I moved away from my hometown at the age of twelve in seventh grade, an awful time to move to a brand new city 800 miles away. Fortunately, the friends I made on the very first day of Kindergarten are still my best friends thirteen years later. I have also made new best friends, though. All of my best friends are completely different, but that is what makes me treasure them even more. We have made it through the dramas and stresses of high school together. We have all kept each other sane and happy. I am thankful for always being able to have someone to talk to when I need it.
I am thankful for the music. More specifically, I am thankful for Taylor Swift. I discovered her at the age of eleven and, six and a half years later, she has continued to be the most important person in my life. She has been there for me through everything. Whenever I was feeling sad and stressed, there was a Taylor song. Whenever I developed a new crush on a boy, there was a Taylor song. Whenever I felt like having a dance party for one, there was a Taylor song. Whenever reality was hitting me in the face, there was a Taylor song. I still have not met her (though I will never let hope die), but I truly consider her my best friend. I am also thankful for Megan & Liz. I discovered them almost three years ago and they inspire me to believe that no dream is too big. I am extremely lucky because I have met them four times now and when I do, it is like I am talking to my best friends. They are golden. I am thankful for having something that helps me release my emotions.
Finally, I am thankful for my Dream on Youth family. Cydney and us six interns are our own little family and that fact makes me smile every single day. They are always there for me whenever I need to vent or whenever I need advice. Most importantly, however, they believe in me. I do not know what I would be doing with my life if I had never received this internship. Being a part of this has made me truly believe in myself and what I am capable of. I am thankful for having girls who are constantly believing in me and pushing me to be my very best.

Stay Fearless,
Andrea
