What I Am Thankful For
This time of the year you tend to reflect on the memories made and what you are thankful for. Around the end of the year, I always think about what I have done throughout the past 12 months and how a year has gone by so fast. This year is no different and I have really thought about what I am thankful for.
Let’s start in January. After sending my best friend off to London, I thought I wouldn’t be able to see her till May. Her leaving me not only at school but the country really sucked, but in March my amazing parents let me go see her. I am so thankful my parents let me fly across the world to see my best friend for a week. I didn’t think going to London would change my life, but it really has. I grew up as a person, I saw what else is out there besides the Midwest, and I was able to see that there is more in life than trying to get the best job at the best company. That is great and all, but I want to see the world and learn from different cultures. That is my dream job, doing PR for a global company. I am extremely thankful I was able to see part of the world with my best friend because we both have big dreams to accomplish and that trip was the start of it all.
No onto the summer where I had yet another birthday. I am thankful for something as simple as that. It seemed like this year was a difficult one for people around me. They were losing their loved ones left and right. I am so thankful for being healthy and having my loved ones around me for another year. Something like a birthday is so simple, but if you really think about it some people don’t get to turn another age.
I am also thankful for opportunities to further my education. College is very expensive, and people decide not to go. I may have debt coming out of college, but I did it for the right reason. I’m thankful for the fact that I get to achieve my dreams with my college degree. I get to use my three internships as examples of what I am capable of. I get to make my family proud and show my colleagues what I can accomplish.
Like the past few years, what I am thankful for is simple. It’s the small things in life that make me keep pushing through all the difficulties. I have the right people by my side along the way and I’m thankful for that. I’m glad I got to meet amazing people from work, internships, and school. These people will be the ones rooting me on so thank you.
xoxo,
Courtney
