"There's more to humanity than survival."

If you know me, you know that I'm very passionate about fighting for people's lives within this world. Whether it's helping people through depression or hard times, or whether it's rescuing people out of slavery, I'm all about the human life, and how valuable people are to this planet. And how valuable you are to this planet.

To Write Love on Her Arms is my favorite organization of all time. Their founder, Jamie Tworkowski, is my hero. Their message is something I hold near and dear to my heart.

"TWLOHA is an invitation to believe better things.
You matter very much.
Your life is priceless.
Your story is important.
No one else can play your part."

How powerful is that? So basic, yet. Those are words that we tend to forget sometimes. When we find ourselves spiraling out of control, we usually can't find those words or find someone to remind us of those words. That's why I love TWLOHA. They're always reminding me of my individuality. That my story is important. That no one could replace me. That yes, I may be overly obsessed with morbid, Halloween things. That I may be a shameless twenty-one-year-old One Direction fan, but they've helped me more than you could ever possibly imagine. That I may be a nanny currently, with no direction in life whatsoever. But that doesn't mean that I'm any less of a person. If anything, that makes me a very colorful character in this adventure called life.

If anything, that means that God created me with design and purpose and meaning. What purpose? As I was watching Supernatural last night, the fallen angel, and my favorite character on television ever; Castiel, was talking about how different being human is, compared to being an angel. His words caught my attention. He was talking to Sam and Dean, and he said "there's more to humanity than survival. You look for purpose, and you must not be defeated by anger or despair." What? Hello, the wonderful message within my favorite show. That stood out to me, and it is true. What Cas was saying was absolutely true for human nature, and that's what so many people tend to forget. That we can't let anger ruin our lives, that makes us bitter. That we can't let despair control our lives, which gives us anxiety and depression. That we must look for purpose. That we have to find a silver lining with everything that life throws at us because there is a reason and a purpose behind everything that happens. I say that because I believe that. You should believe that too.
Believing it isn't easy, though. I know that God has created me in His full design, with purpose. I know that I'm meant to help people because my heart for humanity is bigger than myself. Find something that you're passionate about. Find something that electrifies your soul. Find something that you can see yourself doing, and impact the world by doing so. We all have the potential to change the world. We all have something to offer this world. Society wants to blind us and make us think that we can't change what's happening unless we have the right amount of money or popularity to do so. Which is crap., because it's not true. One of my other heroes, Sophia Bush, made a great point at Invisible Children's Fourth Estate Summit this year, (that I aspire to attend next year, ahem...) by saying that: "we carry a passport to the world. We are global citizens." Meaning that we have every single right to travel the world to change it because we live within this world, it's our world, and we can discover it, adventure upon it, and impact it.
If that's not enough to motivate you, take a look at TWLOHA's founder Jamie Tworkowski's speech at Invisible Children's Fourth Estate Summit this year. Listen to Jedidiah introduce Jamie at 1:59:00, watch the Jamie intro video, then listen to my hero speak. Listen to him talk about the things that matter. I promise you, it'll resonate somehow with you. I'll leave you with Jamie. But in closing, think about these questions: what's your purpose? What do you struggle with? What are your dreams? What are you doing to accomplish those dreams? Do you want to change the world? If so, how? What's your story? What drives you? What motivates you? What is your passion in life?

Keep fighting,
Taylor
