Human Trafficking Awareness Month

As I've mentioned before, there are an estimated 27 million slaves in the world today. Here recently, I've seen that it's an estimated 29 million & growing.
What does that mean? It means that almost 30 million human beings, essentially our neighbors, our friends, the people that we should love and acknowledge, are hidden from the world. They're taken into the shadows. They're forced into labor, inhumane tasks, or even sex slavery. These people are living every day. With their lives being threatened or their families’ lives being treated. These people are the ones that we should remember. The ones that have lost their voice and are too victimized to escape. To the majority of these innocent people, escaping doesn't seem reasonable. It seems hopeless.

Almost 30 million people in the world today are in bondage to slavery. It is 2014. How is that even acceptable? It's acceptable because it's not heard of. A lot of people assume that slavery died many years ago. When, in fact, it kept going, & it is still growing. Sex trafficking, especially. It's one of the biggest industries out there, yet the women or men, or even children involved, get close to nothing just more torment and humiliation by being raped endlessly day in and day out.
Why am I posting this? To ultimately make you aware of the world around you. Sex trafficking is huge in the US. Especially in big cities. Those prostitutes that you may sometimes see that you automatically judge? Don't. You have no idea who she ends up dealing with every night. Those strippers that you think do what they do because they want to? More than likely, go home to a John or a pimp and get abused. Those pimp jokes that are so okay to joke about in society? Yeah. It's not funny to the millions of girls or guys or children who are beaten and raped and sold by pimps daily.

Just be more cautious and more aware of the people around you. You don't know their story. You don't know who they go home to every night. You don't know their darkness or pain. You don't know their families or if they've lost someone to kidnapping or if someone they know has fell victim to rape. We're all connected. We're all put on this planet to take care of one another. Educate yourselves about human trafficking. Find out how you can help end this awful crime.

Keep Fighting,
Taylor
