There is Always Something to be Thankful for
It's that time of year again. That time where we begin to reflect on all that we have, all that we take for granted, and we give thanks. While I was contemplating what to write for this post I was only going to mention one or two things that I feel especially grateful for this year. But then I realized that was an impossible task. This year started magically for me and although it's been a bit rocky since I wouldn't change it. Here are a few of the many things I am thankful for:
My family, more specifically my parents. There are times when I know I can give a major attitude and be disrespectful but they are and always have been my biggest supporters. I don't always show it but I appreciate everything they have and will ever do for me. Life at home's been tough since 2009 with the declining economy and yet my parents still do all that they can to make us happy. I don't know where I'd be without their guidance and love. They have helped shape me into who I am today and I can never thank them enough.
Music. I only really began to distinguish my music taste when I was about 14, which is also when I discovered both Taylor Swift and Megan and Liz. Music in general though keeps me going. It can change my entire mood and helps remind me that I am better than the negative thoughts and the naysayers. Taylor and her music have been there for any and every situation I've ever been in and I am forever grateful. Her lyrics, her values, her genuine personality, and her excessive talent continue to inspire me. She's been there through the ups and downs and I am so thankful to have discovered her and her music. Megan and Liz inspire me in a similar way to Taylor, but the fact that they're my age and are living their dream encourages me to do the same.
Friends and DOY family. I've been introduced to so many different people in the past year and it warms my heart knowing I have so many supporters and loving souls behind me. I don't know what I would do without the encouragement of so many beautiful people. I appreciate and admire every single one of them.
Ballet. I danced for 14 years of my life and after not doing it for two years after I graduated from high school I became aware of how much it truly means to me. It's something that was always a constant in my life despite whatever else was going on. I've concluded that it's something I want to have in my life forever because it keeps me going. It keeps me sane and I am forever grateful to my mom for signing me up for classes when I was 4.
“Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough."
