Stress. Let’s Talk About You Baby
Hello people! Today I want to talk about one of the most troubling issues in the world. It’s invisible, but you know it’s there. It’s contagious, but unless you let it in, it won’t hurt you.
Guessed it yet? Well, that’s right, it is stress.
Nowadays, many people suffer from this condition, which Medline Plus describes as the body’s reaction to a challenge or demand; when it’s in little bursts, it can help us meet a deadline or avoid danger, like adrenaline. But, when it gets out of control, this can cause problems to our health.
The stress manifests itself in different ways, but there are always symptoms to identify it, such as those described by Casarella (2019):
Physical symptoms are stiff jawline or neck, forgetfulness, headaches, loss of energy, tiredness, upset stomach, trouble sleeping, and so on.
Emotional symptoms: becoming easily agitated, feeling overwhelmed, having difficulty relaxing and quieting your mind, feeling bad about yourself (low self-esteem, lonely, worthless, depressed), avoiding others, etc.
These can be common, but why recognize them like that? It would mean that our bodies are used to that, which is wrong.
I can say that I have suffered from at least five of these for several months, and I did get used to living like that. However, a special friend of mine saw a pattern in my behavior and linked these symptoms to chronic stress. When I heard him say that, I became aware of something I wasn’t paying attention to, and my case can be one of many others around the world.
Sometimes we let ourselves go by, almost letting our lives pass by in front of us without knowing what is going on, and this can be a side effect of the ever-present stress. So, we must take control of what may be causing us this condition and avoid it. Perhaps it’s a person we deal with every day, a certain (unpleasant) activity, a hard decision we have to take, or that our body is overworked and we haven’t noticed (for some reason).
I encourage each of you to identify if you are stressed because it’s a risk to your health. Because a healthy life is an enjoyable life where you are no longer suffering from those stubborn symptoms that can go away when you say NO! to stress.
As always, it’s a pleasure to write for you guys, and remember that in Dream on Youth, we love you and support you. Until the next post <3
