#SWW: A Conversation with Gidelvia Fabian-Suero, Marketing Manager for Dream On Youth
Gidelvia is our Marketing Manager here at Dream On Youth. Since we all work remotely, I thought interviewing her for #SelfWorthWednesday would give us some insight around her thoughts about self-worth and allow me to get to know her better. What I’ve learned so far: she practices gratitude, she is mindful, and she’s funny!
Mia: Introduce yourself to the Dream On Youth community. Who is Gidelvia? And what is your role/duties here on the team?
Gidelvia: Who am I? I’ve never had to answer this question before I don’t think. I am an introverted, loving, smart, funny (If i do say so myself), creative whose overall wellness comes first!
My role at DOY? I am the Marketing Manager. I basically manage the creative side of our Instagram -anything from content ideation to planning, while also navigating ways / ideas for the audience to actually connect with the content.
M: What does “self-worth” mean to you?
G: Self-worth: To me it means valuing yourself, listening to yourself- your intuition, if you will. Knowing who you are and what you do and don’t stand for, having unshakable faith in yourself, and having the permanent feeling of worthy-ness.
M: What is something that makes you… YOU?
G: Practicing gratitude daily. I know that if I don’t do this I am not my best self. I genuinely believe my level of gratitude and my ability to find the good in everything makes me ME. It makes me the best version of me.
M: How does self-care show up in your life? And why is self-care important for your own self-worth?
G: I listen to my body, I am mindful, and I have a list of non-negotiables that ensure I am able to show up as the best version of me every week. I’ll list them below for you all. They took me a while to establish and truly learn what it is that helps me show up fully.
Church every week
Daily gratitude and devotional practice
Weekly grocery shopping and cooking. Having a balanced meal changes the game!
Daily work-out. FREE accessible workouts are my go-to’s, like these two favorites from YouTube: Yoga With Adriene and PopSugar Fitness. Yoga changed my life and PopSugar just helps in other areas.
Podcast and reading. Expanding the mind!
M: What do you wish your younger self knew about self-worth?
G: EVERYTHING. I knew nothing, it was tough! I didn’t value myself, I didn’t love myself, I even verbally abused myself. I did more harm than good.
So now I’ve made it my business to use my “platform” to help people grow and learn about wellness, self-worth, and self-care. I feel they all fall together. I wish someone would’ve shared the value in learning to value yourself and how much brighter life becomes once you do.
M: In 3 sentences or less, what is something you want to tell other women about self-worth?
G: Find it at all costs, it’s worth it. It provides incredible growth and comfort within yourself and gives you the superwoman feel!
