National Depression Screening Day
Today is National Depression Screening Day. Created in 1991 to help encourage people who are living with depression to get the help they need. Today I’m going to discuss one of the most popular tools for diagnosing depression; the Beck’s Depression Inventory.
Beck’s Depression inventory is a 21 question test where the participants are asked to honestly gauge their feelings on a scale of 0 to 3. with 0 being the response that least corresponds to no depression and three corresponding to severe depression. Once you complete all 21 questions, total your responses, and you’ll have your score. Research has shown that this test is both valid and reliable.
For many people, this simple test can be the difference between struggling and thriving. If you feel like you may be dealing with depression, please seek a qualified professional and ask about taking this test.
That’s all I have for today. If you have a story related to today’s topic, please share it in the comments. Until next time!
